Stylist Rules – 5 jewellery looks from your existing wardrobe
It’s not unusual to have that one friend for whom your first question after ‘hello’ is – “ohmigod where did you get that I love it!!” Anna Berkeley is a stylist, so she has a slight edge which we can all learn from.. Here she takes the Fei Liu Cascade pendant (which she is rather in love with) and shows 5 jewellery looks with some of her classic outfits.
If Anna has a character flaw, it is that she is always elegant, always wearing something interesting, and always looks good in photos! What chance for the rest of us?! She’s also really likeable, extremely good fun and really knows her way through a woman’s wardrobe, helping people to make the most of what they have, before they consider what they need. Anna has agreed to take up some jewellery challenges. Here over 5 days, she shows 5 jewellery looks providing suggestions on how to wear the Cascade designs by Fei Liu. You can visit her website www.annaberkeley.com to learn and see more.
It’s not unusual for me to be seen on the school run sporting a cocktail ring. I like my jewellery big, bold and beautiful whether it’s semi-precious, metal or resin. This glorious gobstopper of a ring from Fei Liu is a thing of wonder. The soft, delicate lines juxtapose perfectly with its ample size and I had a flurry of compliments. This sort of piece makes you want to gesticulate as much as possible to show it off. Just make sure you don’t connect with anyone’s face whilst you’re waving your hands about.
A smart look with dressy silk faille trousers and a bib front shirt. The rose gold metallic shoe echoed the warmth in the necklace perfectly. Wear the shirt open to make the necklace the focal point or leave it long and have the necklace on top. If you have a large bust it’s best to position necklaces mid sternum.
What could be more casual than a grey marl sweat and jeans? This is a favourite low maintenance look of mine. The addition of the cascade collection pieces elevate it, but in essence it still works for going down the pub, lunch with friends and even the school run. Just don’t let any little hands grab at that necklace.
A crazy, candy pink cocktail dress plus two cascade pieces and I am ready to rock and roll. I adjusted the drop a couple of times for a different look. The rose gold glowed against the bright pink of the dress when worn long. It looked equally good mid sternum above the bodice of the dress. Either way it’s a pretty, interesting and versatile necklace for a special night out. And you can wear it to work too!
Cascade cocktail ring by Fei Liu is available from Heirloom for £320 in blackened rhodium as modelled by Anna, and also rose gold vermeil and rhodium plated silver, all set with cubic zirconias. The Cascade pendant is also available in these three finishes also for £320.
